Ralph Goings (1928–2016) was an American painter known for his contributions to the Photorealism movement. Born in Corning, California, he developed a keen interest in representing everyday American life with meticulous detail. Goings gained recognition for his hyperrealistic depictions of diners, pickup trucks, and fast-food restaurants. His work has been exhibited in major institutions, including the Whitney Museum of American Art, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum. He was a key figure in the 1972 “Realism Today” exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago. His paintings captured the essence of postwar American culture with striking precision and depth. Throughout his career, Goings continued to refine his technique, utilizing photography as a basis for his compositions. His legacy endures as one of the foremost Photorealist painters of the 20th century.
