Ray Rogers has been an expressionist artist for more than 50 years. He studied at the University of CA at Berkeley with George McNeill and also studied with Robert Motherwell at a summer course. He attempts to express drama, passion, joy, and integrity in his paintings. He employs a “direct painting” approach where the act of painting, including all detail and spontaneity, are recorded without alliteration. His works are not preconceived. They begin with a blank canvas and portray the event as it unfolds. Visual Art and classical music have always been intertwined in his life. He believes that orchestra music is similar to abstract painting. His ultimate goal would be to achieve a visual expression of what Beethoven has done with music.
